Elyn - X

Funny days. When I had a 'crush' on her. During That time it felt right. It felt normal. Something inside my stomach twirled with her presence, so like an 8th grade boy going through puberty, I instantly took it as a crush.

During that time everything was kept low profile. Crushes, Secrets etc. I don't remember who I told first, but my crush eventually spread to the everyone.. ( By everyone I meant the 'E' Class). How? Well, I was an 12.9 years old and going through high school and puberty, and I was an attention seeking brat. So during a 'Dono''s turf game of "Truth or dare" the bottle pointed at me, and someone... OH WAIT NO. The bottle DIDN"T point at me, but rather at Elyn. And so everyone was all...

"OOOHHH, Huynh Give Elyn a Truth"

I took it literally
and shouted out
"I LIKE ELYN!!!"

I guess at that point she finally found out, then again everyone was really into gossip so she might have found out from someone else. Then I started talking to snoopy and Jessica about it, advice and stuff.

On another note, Ms Lal got pissed at people and decided to make seating arrangments. Coincidentally she put me next to Garry and Elyn. But I ended up talking to Garry more...And kenny who was behind me at the time. Tests made things very awkard, As I'd get a pretty shit mark like 67%, but sometimes she'd get lower. But at least we both agreed that we sucked at maths.( A year later, I stopped sitting next to her and sat next to Kenny and Jessica.)

Eventually Me Jessica, Elyn and snoopy decided to go watch movies together. That was the suppose to be a 'double date'. Yes, Snoopy was a lesbian back then.

I was pretty excited for it all back then. Hanging out with Elyn, talking laughing etc. I remember, while sitting at dono's turf.

Steph and Elyn talking -

Steph : ELYN, what are you going to wear?
Elyn: I don't know...man
Steph (to me) : Huynh, What should Elyn wear?
Me: Doesn't matter, she'll look pretty either way.

About a couple of days before the outing I had a family breakfast at yum cha in the morning. And when people were starting to make plans for ...something... I had to but in and tell them

"Not on Saturday because I was hopeing to go out"
Mum: Who with?
Me: Friends
Uncle: Oh ho, you're not going anywhere unless it's with your girlfriend..
Me: Yeah! it actaully is-
Uncle (s): OH HOHO HAHA! REALLY! CHOI OI! (omg)
Well have fun THEN!

At that time, I felt like I needed something to prove to my family, That I was normal and not a lonely child- perhaps. After that My cousin got teased for not having a girlfriend while I was temporary being praised... sheesh.

Moving on to that double date we watched 'Australia'... and I don't remember anything else. Except snoopy leaving early during the film. Don't remember much about this date.

From there on I started visiting Elyn in E block. I sat next to her but I still didn't really do much... I didn't want to?... She didn't want to? Awkwardness?...blahblah.... Public affection just made everything uneasy. But we did had a few alone time, had a few good talks and laughs. Although, I wasn't sure I felt...Committed. I believed at that time I was very social, So I didn't just talk to her, but the whole E block in general. During this time, Rumors flew around about Wilson tang liking Elyn too. I remember at one moment while I was with Elyn in E block, Wilson came up to us and was talking to Elyn. Then he escorted her to the Music room so that he could...play her a piano piece or something. During so, Me and Elyn just exchanged looks of confusion.

Am I suppose to follow?
Should I be telling him no?
Am I suppose to be jealous?

But nope. No to all the above. And I just resumed my conversation with Snoopy.

Just before the 6 week holidays, Me and Elyn had a small talk about 'where we stand?'. Wasn't really much, just 'boyfriend and girlfriend'. Then we drifted off subject and ended up laughing about something to do with chicken... feet.

SO the holidays came, and I didn't really had much contact with her. Also during this time I moved to my House in Cabramatta west. 4 streets away from her house. We only ever talked on msn but she rarely even went on. When she did, we usually did had long conversations. And I actually remember enjoying them and 'not wanting to gtg'. I think we enjoyed each other's bookworm-ness. Harry potter, Vampire Academy, The book of lies etc. She usually was the one that gave me books to read.

After a few quiet weeks, Elyn texted me and asked whether to watched "Yes man". Obviously I agreed. I didn't had a couch then, so I remember texting while lieing on my Mattress-couch. So on that day, we met up, Watch the movie and eat. Pretty much. THEN I decided to go to JB HI FI because elyn wanted to get something. There we both bumped into, JESSICA and CATRINA.

Catrina: OH HI ELYN! What are you doing here?
..
OHHHHHHH! HELLO HUYNH!

They were watching 'bolt' and asked us to join them and we actually did.
From there on the formation pretty much split into
Jess and Me, Catrina and Elyn.

Her birthday was the week after, 7th of january. And I believe Elyn was celebrating it with Bonnie. I think we went Iceskating. The boys left after iceskating though and I remember taking the bus to Elyn's house. But Elyn was afraid of her mum and the "No boys" policy. So I "snuck' in and stayed in the bedroom. Everyone else was there. She had a bookshelf each having one row of books....Covering a row of books. We chat abit until it was time to eat. Me and Elyn was still wondering about that "No boys policy" so we thought she might just snuck food into the room for me. Eventually she did Tell her mum and everything was perfectly alrighte. I didn't had to hide. So I joined everyone and had Cake and pizza while watching...Barebie and the 4 musketeers. LOL. that was hilarious. and played band hero. :D. Later I went home with Jess...halfway..
(now I just realised I've already moved into my Bonnyrigg Home by then... Holy crap. Been living here for almost 3 years.)

And I didn't see her for the rest of the holidays.

School returned and we enter Year 9

Around this time, or maybe at the end of year 8 she got braces and dyed her hair blonde. Which I thought was AWESOME! she looked so hectic I swear. LOL. Anyways, In school I started seeing her less and...we drifted.

Around March that year we broke up. Well She broke up with me. No surprise. A few days before, snoopy and Elyn were talking, and I could tell from Snoopy's face that something was up. So when it came to that, I wasn't at all surprised, or...hurt? We both agreed that 'being friends is just fine'..ok so I suggested and we hugged it out.
... ... and that was the end of that. No after effects what so ever. Things never became awkward afterwards. I even took her bus almost everyday home and we still had normal conversations. And ...No one ever mentioned or asked whether it was awkward for us or not so everything was normal. She made it into High achievers as well while I didn't. (I reckon High achievers broke the 'E' class. :( )

I still sat next to her in maths, for year 8 and first half of year 9. Eventually Furniture moved around and seats moved, and people left... And now that I think about it, I never really ever talked to her anymore once the class was rearranged. Didn't have any other classes with her except History and Geo which in both case I was isolated, with Jess. And Eric (for Geo)
Buses also coincidentally changed as well, which meant that she no longer takes the same bus as me. Since I moved Into my new home, I had to take the bus- 833. At first It COINCIDENTLY AND CONVIENTLY was the bus that waited at school and would take me straight to my house. First It'd be a school bus from school to Cabramatta then change into bus 833. So, Me and Elyn would always at least see each other after school. Also I didn't really knew which bus to take from school so I'd always follow her, and when I forgot my bus pass, she'd lend me hers.

But the buses changed.

We would usually wait together for our buses.

But now

We don't see each other, as her bus comes earlier then mine. So she would take the bus from school, while I'm taking train, and she'd get on her bus just as I arrive at the bus stop to wait for mine. side-note, along the way I got to saw Elyn's sister -Emily- grow into high school, from year 7 onwards.

So it wasn't until today
, Did I saw Elyn on my bus, and thought
hmm...when was the last time I saw and talked to her.

And on the bus, when we saw each other, we didn't say hello or anything. Just a quick eye contact. And as I watch her leave the bus I just thought...


Wow...things have changed... a lot.
